Chief expertise officers (CTOs) from firms, together with Palantir, Meta, and OpenAI, are taking part-time roles within the U.S. Army Reserve.
In October, the U.S. Defense Department put out the decision to prime Silicon Valley expertise to take high-ranking positions within the U.S. Army Reserve so they may periodically be tapped for short-term initiatives in areas like information and cybersecurity, The Wall Street Journal reported on the time.
Now, eight months later, Silicon Valley is reporting for responsibility.
The preliminary cohort of this program will embody the CTOs of Meta and Palantir, Andrew Bosworth and Shyam Sankar, respectively, as initially reported by The Wall Street Journal. It may even embody OpenAI executives Kevin Weil, chief product officer, and Bob McGrew, chief analysis officer.
