Electronic Arts is reportedly eliminating “between 300 and 400 positions” and scrapping a recreation set within the Titanfall universe, codenamed R7, that was within the works at Respawn Entertainment, in response to Bloomberg.
“As a part of our continued give attention to our long-term strategic priorities, we’ve made choose adjustments inside our group that extra successfully aligns groups and allocates assets in service of driving future development,” EA spokesperson Justin Higgs mentioned in a press release to Bloomberg.
In a press release posted on X, Respawn explains that it needed to cancel two video games that had been in “early-stage incubation” and “make some focused group changes” throughout Apex Legends and Star Wars Jedi. “These selections aren’t straightforward, and we’re deeply grateful to each teammate affected,” the publish says.
IGN studies that about 100 staff at Respawn had been laid off, together with builders, QA employees, and publishing staffers. IGN additionally says that some employees had been moved from Respawn over to EA Motive’s Iron Man recreation, the Battlefield collection, “and different initiatives.”
Additionally, Respawn’s SVP of operations Daniel Suarez is now GM of the studio and can report on to its co-founder and CEO Vince Zampella. In 2021, EA put Zampella in command of the Battlefield franchise as a part of an inner shakeup.
