President Donald Trump has signed an government order aimed toward restoring TikTok service within the U.S.
The order instructs related authorities companies to “pursue a decision” that “protects nationwide safety” whereas “saving [TikTok.]” Via the order, Trump is instructing the U.S. Attorney General to not take any motion for 75 days to implement the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act (PAFACA), the act that successfully banned TikTok within the U.S. on Sunday, January 19.
“During this era, the Department of Justice shall take no motion to implement the Act or impose any penalties towards any entity for any noncompliance with the Act,” the chief order reads. “Even after the expiration of the above-specified interval, the Department of Justice shall not take any motion to implement the Act […]”
Trump’s transfer comes on the heels of a U.S. Supreme Court determination to uphold the PAFACA, which handed with bipartisan Congressional assist throughout former President Joe Biden’s time period.
