    Oscars frontrunner The Brutalist makes use of generative AI, and it may cost it the Best Picture prize


    The Brutalist, one of many Oscars frontrunners with 9 BAFTA 2025 nominations, might have faltered its probability on the greatest prize of all of them after the movie’s editor revealed using generative AI to make the film really feel extra genuine.

    The film, which is predicted to earn many Academy Award nominations when they’re revealed later this week, tells the story of László Tóth (Adrien Brody), a Hungarian Jewish architect who survives the Holocaust and strikes throughout the Atlantic to chase the American Dream. Brody’s mom is Hungarian, whereas his father is of Polish Jewish descent, and the actor himself has spoken about how he sees his personal immigrant grandparent’s struggles within the character he portrays. While Brody’s glorious efficiency is predicted to obtain a Best Actor nomination, having already gained Best Actor in a Drama on the Golden Globes earlier this month, his efficiency and different features of The Brutalist are actually coming beneath intense scrutiny.

    Speaking to RedShark News, The Brutalist’s editor Dávid Jancsó revealed that generative AI was used to enhance Hungarian pronunciations as a big majority of the film’s dialogue is in Hungarian.
