Somewhat early vacation shock from Boston Dynamics this week, as Santa suit-wearing electrical Atlas performs a backflip. The feat happens about 13 minutes into a brand new video, showcasing yet one more trick within the humanoid robotic’s arsenal.
It’s price noting that – not like with people – a robotic performing a backflip isn’t essentially extra difficult than strolling. That stated, roboticists are inclined to give attention to helpful duties like locomotion first. Even so, it’s spectacular to see how sturdy Boston Dynamics’ new robotic is proving to be — and that it managed to maintain its Santa hat on the entire time.
The electrical Atlas is following within the footsteps of its hydraulic predecessor, which debuted the ability in 2017. More not too long ago, Unitree’s humanoid has proven of its personal gymnastics talents.
